Kentucky Derby

Always run on the first Saturday in May; this year, that's the 5th competing with Cinco de Mayo parties.   However you party, Southern-style or Mexican, have fun. (Buzz:  Use my search button for last year's post on the Kentucky Derby where you'll find a Mint julep recipe.)

Shoe swap party

A fun idea for a party came from a suggestion by Deb.  She asked about my school vacation plans and all I had on the agenda was sorting out my Spring wardrobe and putting away a 'mountain' of shoes.  One thing led to another with plans being made right then and there for a girls night out on the last day of vacation.

A perfect fit!  The bottle of wine and the bottle holder.  Deb was so clever to find this pair.  They are so cute and so shoe-tible for this party.  Thank you so much.  (The pump is even in her colors!)

The napkins carry out the theme with clever sayings like "true love comes in pairs" and "stimulate the economy one shoe sale at a time".

Canape spreaders even supported the theme.

Happy Anniversary, Fenway Park

A great occasion to party! Boston's ballpark, home to the Red Sox, celebrates 100 years today as the longest-running Major
League Baseball stadium in America.  It is also home to the famous Green Monster, the wooden wall behind third base.  This gave rise to one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches in the U.S. according to Food and Wine magazine.

Roxy's Grilled Cheese, Boston

With respect to Boston baseball (and Fenway Park's famed left-field wall "The Green Monster"), Roxy's offers the Green Muenster, with guacamole and bacon. In an ingenious twist, Roxy's brushes mayonnaise on the outside of sandwiches, rather than butter, before slapping them on the griddle.

Go Red Sox!
